This image is just a mere snippet of the reality that the Northern Rivers, the region we call home, has been facing.
For the past two weeks, our community has been floored by the record-to-date floods that have swept through the area.
Our business has been on hold, while we have been doing our best to support our community through this harrowing time.
We are watching houses destroyed, completely stripped to the frames of infrastructure and belongings. Roads, bridges and mountains collapsed to disrepair, and countless lives lost.
Civilian heroes have taken all forms: from deploying volunteer led rescue helicopters and boats, and risking their own lives, to tirelessly washing, cooking, cleaning and emotionally supporting a broken region. It has been an unfathomable experience.
Until April 15th, we pledge to donate 30% of our sales profits to flood relief in our region. Alongside this financial contribution, we have donated over $6000 to local families that have lost their belongings. If you know personally of a family in need, please reach out - we'd love to have a conversation about how we can help. If you would like to donate directly, but want to know where, you can find a list here.
On a bigger scale, strong action on climate is not simply a flood plan, or a fire plan. It means no new coal and gas, decarbonising our economy, making our planning system climate centred and keeping people safe for generations to come.
Sending love to our community near and far,
Mim, Mantra and the OTS team x
